Edo State Leads Nigeria’s Digital Governance Revolution (Unveils the E-Governance Plaque)

In a landmark event, the Edo State Governor, His Excellency Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki, alongside the Edo State Civil and Public Servants, unveiled a commemorative plaque to celebrate the state’s transition from paper-based to digital governance. This monumental achievement, which positions Edo State as the first in Nigeria to adopt full-scale e-governance, took place on November 8, 2024.

The plaque reads:
“This plaque commemorates the transition of the public service of Edo State from paper to digital governance (the first in Nigeria) on September 1, 2023, by the administration of His Excellency Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki, Governor of Edo State. Unveiled by His Excellency Godwin N. Obaseki this 8th day of November in the Year of Our Lord, 2024.”

Governor Obaseki lauded the efforts of the E-Governance Team, whose dedication and innovative spirit made the transition possible. He emphasized the importance of leveraging technology to enhance efficiency, transparency, and service delivery in governance. The governor stated, “This achievement marks a critical step in our journey toward building a modern, efficient, and citizen-focused public service.”
