Projects Executed

To achieve our vision of technology-driven transformation, we have successfully completed the following projects:

E-GOV Platform

The E-Gov platform drives Edo State’s ongoing digital transformation. This platform restructures and reengineers government services, emphasizing the use of technology for greater citizen engagement and efficiency. To underscore this commitment, the State has developed electronic systems for e-protocols, healthcare services, e-applications/e-petitions, and internal organizational functions. The platform makes government information and services readily accessible to citizens and businesses. This fosters transparency, and accountability, and encourages active participation in governance, fulfilling the aims of e-governance in Edo State.

Data Centre

Within just one year, the Edo State ICTA Data Centre has achieved the following:

– Upgraded the Odoo application for the Local Government Management System (LGMS) from Version 9 to 13, including the purchase and installation of 4 HP Gen 10 Priiant servers.
– Provisioned a server to store state records/data from MDAs as part of the Document Management System (DMS) project.
– Upgraded Firewall 1 and switched from Cyberoam to Sophos XG230, strengthening network security.
– Configured a staging environment and provided inbound VPN access for external vendors working with the State.
– Currently implementing a Tier 3 DC upgrade to enhance services and broaden commercialization capabilities.

Data Harmonization Project

The Agency has developed a system through which MDAs can engage in shared services by implementing the Data Harmonization Project where government resources (data) are consorted and kept in a data bank for easy retrieval and use by MDAs to facilitate their respective business processes.

Automating Workstations

As part of the lessons from the global pandemic (COVID-19), the Edo State Government has introduced an automated workstation for her staff. In conjunction with the Office of the Head of Service, ICTA has enabled the automated workstation for civil and public servants to promote seamless and prompt task execution. ICTA trained all Perm Secs on the use of Zoom, setting up support accounts on WhatsApp for Perm Secs and on Zoom to assist with technical issues arising from the Weekly EXCO and daily Covid calls.

Robust Enterprise Network

Edo State’s enterprise network is a leader in design within the region. The Edo Broadband Network platform offers expanded technology access for residents and businesses, promoting a digitally-driven economy. This robust network supports service providers and has stimulated job creation within the tech sector. Our network expansion has enabled internet connectivity at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, making livestreaming of events possible.

Additionally, the ICTA team resolved connectivity issues in the EXCO chamber and the new Governor’s office. They deployed fiber cables and auxiliary wireless access, ensuring reliable connections.

Key network accomplishments include:

– Metropolitan fiber cable project deployment across government locations.
– MainOne Fiber cable deployment to Tech Park.
– LAN connectivity within the Tech Park.
These efforts provide expanded network access to government offices, the Production Centre, Blocks C&D, John Odigie Oyegun Training Centre, and Edo Technology Park (where digital skills training drives the state’s digital economy).

Additional project areas include:
– Internet bandwidth provisioning, maintenance, and expansion for the government.
– LAN and wireless installation at data centers and MDAs.
– IT equipment repairs.
– Wireless connectivity installation for the – Edo State House of Assembly.
– Fiber optic links, LAN & WAN connections, including the Edo Innovation Hub.
– Edo University, Iyamoh

ICTA successfully upgraded the ICT infrastructure at Edo University, Iyamoh to support technology-driven learning. Projects included:

– WAN installation
– Website deployment
– Supply of ID card machines, photocopiers, and file cabinets
– LAN installation
– IT materials provision for classrooms and labs
– Data center upgrades (server memory, internet management, backup systems)

ICTA Support

Following the reengineered process of the public sector, we have adopted the private sector drive to our business operations ensuring a 48-hour maximum response time to technology issues from MDAs. The Agency has instituted the ICTA Support which renders prompt IT services to MDAs and resolves issues within 24 hours of notification from the MDA. To ease this process, MDAs can raise a ticket on any tech-related challenge which is then assigned to the designated ICT staff to resolve immediately. Instances of any unforeseen delays are escalated for executive action. This process enables increased productivity and seamless workflow.

Digitization of EXCO Chamber

The Agency, working with tech professionals, has deployed tech solutions to the State Executive Council Chambers to enable meeting presentations, deliberations, and virtual meetings with the State Executive Council Members. This has supported the efficient work of Mr. Governor and has resulted in signing off meetings held even during the peak of COVID.

Data Harmonization Project

Ensuring the complete digitization of MDAs, ICTA has engaged the services of Central Securities and Clearing System Plc, a leading tech solution company in Nigeria to achieve the digitization of records and files in all Ministries, Agencies and Departments in the State. The Agency has been closely monitoring the CSCS deployment projects across the various MDAs and has achieved 70% coverage of the digital archiving of government records in the Ministries, Departments and Agencies.

Residency Identity Number (RIN)

Edo State Government, through strategic collaboration with the National Identity Management Commission, has begun co-implementation of the National Identity Management registration for civil servants across the State. This has helped in the process of identity registration, the development of a comprehensive database for citizens and certainly contributed to the security architecture structure of the state.

Others

Developed and deployed applications to be used by various organs of Govt. Provision of IP-based CCTV cameras, UPS Galaxy 5000/200 Amh batteries, and backup tapes for adequate security storage at facilities to achieve 0.001% downtime at Edo State Data Centre. Deployment of IP telephony and unique mobile telephones. Supply and replace backup inverter batteries to all MDAs connectivity points to eliminate network interruption. Supply of batteries to all MDAs
