In a groundbreaking initiative to enhance the capabilities and prospects of youth in Edo State, the Edo State Government, through the Ministry of Youth and Humanitarian Affairs, in collaboration with the Edo State Information Communication Technology Agency (ICTA), has entered into a strategic partnership with GOMYCODE, an international educational technology startup. This collaboration aims to train selected youth in Data Science and Software Development, equipping them with critical skills for the modern workforce. The pilot phase of this transformative program will commence on May 27, 2024.
GOMYCODE, headquartered in the Netherlands and operating in over eight African countries, is committed to democratizing access to quality tech education. This partnership aligns with GOMYCODE’s mission to empower individuals with essential digital skills, bridging the gap between education and employment opportunities in today’s technology-driven world.


The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) took place on April 29, 2024. The event was attended by distinguished members of the state government, including the Secretary to the Edo State Government, Osarodion Ogie Esq., the Honorable Commissioner for Youth and Humanitarian Affairs, Honorable Dada Abubakar, the Edo State Consultant on E-Governance and ICT-related matters, Birgitta Eno Okodugha FMAN, who represented the MD ICTA, Mr. Goodluck Igbinedion, along with other key ministry representatives including the Edo State Ambassador, Mr. Daniel Uwadiae. GOMYCODE was represented by the Country Manager, Mr. Babatunde Olaifa, and the GOMYCODE Ikeja Hub Manager, Mr. Dele Fayemi.
Honorable Dada Abubakar expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “This collaboration with GOMYCODE is a testament to our commitment to the youth of Edo State. By providing them with highly sought-after tech and digital skills, we are not only enhancing their employability but also contributing to the overall development of our state. We are excited to see the positive impact this training will have on our youth.”
“We are on a mission to democratize access to tech education in Africa and the Middle East. This initiative, in partnership with the people-oriented government of Edo State, is designed to provide the youth with access to quality digital education that will prepare them for the future of work,” said Mr. Babatunde Olaifa, Country Manager of GOMYCODE Nigeria.

The pilot phase of the training program will be hosted at the ICTA CBT Center, Block D, Seventh Floor at Secretariat Complex, and will run for four months. During this period, the 50 selected youth will undergo intensive training in Software Development and Data Science, preparing them to meet the demands of the modern job market and contribute meaningfully to the tech industry.

This initiative marks a significant step forward in addressing the skills gap in Nigeria, ensuring that the youth of Edo State are well-prepared for the opportunities and challenges of the digital age.
